Preparing for the day involves certain routines such as washing, dressing, eating breakfast and morning devotional readings. Last Sunday morning, I was pleased to have taken care of the normal activities and was ready for church. Glancing in the mirror and making sure no tags were sticking out of my red sweater, I was ready. Alan and I decided it was time to leave the house. Dressed in dark blue pants, nice white button up shirt and his dress shoes, my husband was looking very handsome.
"Do I look okay?" I asked. Alan always answers with the same response. I never really know if he's looking at me or not. :-)
"You look as pretty as the day I met you." He smiles. I blush. We've been married for 40 years on March 3, 2019.
The day was full of wonderful worship service, delicious lunch, visit with friends and family and as we prepared for evening, our hearts were full of love.
Time to prepare for sleep. Another normal routine. Wash face, change into pajamas, say prayers, kiss goodnight.
As I placed soap on the washcloth and began to wash my face, I noticed something odd. The whole day had passed and I never noticed I was wearing two different earrings. Yes, they were similar in size and shape. One is white and one is silver. Easy to make a mistake while putting on my earrings early in the morning, or at least that is what I told myself.
Then, I began reviewing the day. Had anyone else noticed my two different earrings? Having such short hair makes earrings easily seen. Did this mean Alan didn't notice my ears? Questions began running through my mind.
Did everyone notice? Did they think I was making a "fashion statement" or possibly noticed and didn't want me to feel bad by drawing attention to my mistake.
Whatever the reason, I laughed and showed my sweet little earrings to my loving husband. His response, "Oh, I didn't even notice."
We both laughed and decided a brighter light might be necessary when time comes for me to "decorate" my ears.
This whole situation reminded me of how God looks at our inner beauty and does not look at outer beauty. We are created by Him and therefore, we are all beautiful.
If you wear earrings, check to see if they match. If they don't match, no worries. "You are as pretty as the day He created you."
Blessings,
Mimi
